AMCs Preacher is headed back to television for another season of off-the-wall amazingness. But you might be saying, This show looks friggin weird! What the hell is going on? Well, Im a die-hard Preacher fan and Im here to get you up to speed on everything you need to know about Preacher.Preacher is based on the comic book series written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Steve Dillon. The story surrounds Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small town of Annville, Texas who has lost his faith. One night, he is possessed by a powerful spirit called Genesis. Genesis is the offspring that was formed when an angel and a demon got busy. It was contained in Heaven and watched over by two angels, DeBlanc and Fiore, but escaped and has made its home inside Jesse.Genesis gives Jesse a power known as the Word of God. Basically, if he tells you do something, you are compelled to do it. In the television series, Jesse decides to use this power to try and save his dwindling congregation. When that fails, he finds a way to call up Heaven directly and speak to the Almighty himself. Turns out that God has abandoned his throne and no one knows where he is. So Jesse decides to use his power to travel America, find God, and make him answer for well, everything.Jesse is joined by Tulip, a vicious but lovable criminal and former girlfriend of Jesses. He also has his new pal Cassidy along for the ride. Cassidy just happens to be a 119 year-old vampire on the run from a group of vampire hunters. Fun! To make matters more interesting, DeBlanc and Fiore have enlisted the soul of a murderous cowboy, known as the Saint of Killers, to hunt down Jesse and pry Genesis out of him.There are some more surprises in store but I dont wanna spoil yall on that fun. Instead, make sure to glue your peepers on Preacher when it hits the boob tube on June 25.
