Glass  the Sequel to Both Unbreakable and Split  Will Not be HorrorJason Blum  producer of horror hit Split and its recently announced sequel Glass  says the follow-up will not be a horror film. The forthcoming flick will serve as sequel to both Split AND Unbreakable, with James McAvoys character from the former and Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jacksons characters from the latter coming face-to-face.Blum was initially hesitant to reveal anything about the film when we asked him what audiences should expect from Glass.A great movie came the response. I say anything more, Night would behead me, so I cant talk about it. He has a story  the script is not done, but I know what the story is.When we pushed him on the matter however - asking if Glass would be more superhero movie of horror - Blum said I cant answer that question, but I appreciate you trying before belatedly adding Its not a horror movie I will tell you that. Its nothing to do with horror. Not a horror movie. Nothing to do with horror.So does that mean Glass will be a superhero movie? Who knows. But we now we know what it definitely WONT be.

Split Sequel Glass Definitely Won't be a Horror Movie

A new trailer for Annabelle: Creation has dropped  and it looks pretty chilling. A prequel to Annabelle, about a possessed doll, the franchise is a spin-off from the popular The Conjuring series of films.The film tells the origin story of creepy doll Annabelle and stars Miranda Otto and Anthony LaPaglia. After losing their daughter in a car accident, they apparently make contact with her spirit. But when she asks to move into the doll, they realise its not their daughter and lock the doll away. But they end up playing straight into the evil spirits hands. Needless to say, things get a whole lot more sinister. Lights Out director David F. Sandberg takes the reins, while Gary Dauberman who wrote Annabelle is on screenplay duties. Heres the official synopsis from Warner Bros: Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmakers possessed creation, Annabelle. Annabelle: Creation is released on August 11 in the US and UK.

Raw is rarely written about without mentioning reports that audience members at an early screening fainted during its more graphic scenes. Its true to say that there are some vivid and jolting sequences in the French-language horror about a girl who starts wrestling with cannibalistic urges. But while Julia Ducournaus film is both startling and original, you can also see the influence of some choice classic horror.We spoke to Julia Ducournau about the films that influenced Raw.One of those films is Brian DePalmas Carrie. The thing is, considering the premise of my own movie I knew that in the audience most of the people would think about Carrie on their own, she says. And so I thought: Okay, Im going to do a wink to that famous blood-shower scene so that we know its here. I know I go on the same territory, but my movie is very different. So after that you can move on, you know?Less direct nods go to the films of David Cronenberg  in the themes she broaches as well as the body horror represented on screen.The way he filmed bodies and the themes he tackles  with mortality and the human condition, and identity as well  are themes that I have always been interested in and that I treat in my own work, she says. As for her favourite Cronenberg films? I think as a filmmaker Dead Ringers would be my favourite one because for me its like his opera, she says. It is an opera in five acts. Its a Greek tragedy.Although for sheer punch, she picks another: As an audience in terms of emotions I would say The Fly because this movie makes me cry over and over and over again each time I watch it. Raw is currently on release in the US and hits screens in the UK on April 7.
