Already sad that your favorite TV series are coming to a close for the summer? Well, the five major broadcast networks feel your pain and have released the trailers for their new fall shows to get you excited for what’s to come.
And while there are plenty of new series to pique your interest, the lineup is especially exciting for fantasy fans.
We’ve compiled the trailers for the new series that fantasy lovers will want to check out in order to help viewers decide which to add to their DVRs this September.
Charmed
12 years after the original ended its eight-season run, Charmed is returning to our TV screens this fall with a brand new cast. The witchy reboot will follow a new trio of sisters whose lives are turned upside down after discovering they have supernatural powers: Mel can freeze time, Maggie can hear people’s thoughts, and Macy has telekinetic powers. And once you find out you’re that gifted, there’s really no turning back, which means plenty of supernatural antics will ensue. Fans of the original will be able to relive their love for the “power of three,” while a new diverse cast can draw a new generation of fans to the tale.
Charmed will air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the CW.
Manifest
Fans of Once Upon A Time will notice a familiar face in NBC’s new drama Manifest. Actor Josh Dallas, who played Prince Charming on the fairytale series, is one of the leads of the new ensemble drama about a group of airline passengers who experience some terrifying turbulence. When they land safely back on the ground they learn that they’ve actually been missing for over five years and their lives and loved ones have had to move on without them. The trailer is a real tearjerker so we’d recommend only tuning into this one if you don’t mind This Is Us-levels of crying while watching TV.
Manifest will air on Monday nights at 10 p.m. on NBC.
Legacies
Vampire Diaries was a huge hit for the CW for eight seasons, so it’s no surprise that the network greenlit a second spinoff of the series. (The first being The Originals, which debuted in 2013 and is still going strong on the network.) Legacies will tell the story of a new generation of vampires, witches, and werewolves attending The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted in an effort to learn how to control their wicked impulses and instead become the heroes they want to be. Unfortunately, there’s not a trailer for this one, but that’s only because network execs have so much faith in the franchise that they picked the series up without even seeing a pilot. That’s pretty rare in Hollywood and hopefully means the series will live up to its predecessor.
Legacies will air on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. on the CW.
A Million Little Things
Fantasy fans who loved watching David Giuntoli as the lead in Grimm for the past six years may want to tune into his new ABC drama, A Million Little Things. The series follows a group of friends who struggle to pick up the pieces after a member of their group commits suicide. As they try to understand what drove him to kill himself, they begin to realize it’s time to start living their own lives to the fullest. Sure, Giuntoli won’t be battling magical creatures in his new show, but he’ll be battling his own personal demons so it still may be worth a watch.
A Million Little Things will air on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. on ABC.
The Rookie
Before Nathan Fillion starred in Castle for eight years on ABC, he was entertaining fantasy fans way back in 2003 as both Captain Malcolm ‘Mal’ Reynolds in Firefly and Caleb in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But Fillion will be back on the small screen this fall in The Rookie as a man who decides to start a new career as an LAPD officer after being held at gunpoint. The problem, however, is that his new coworkers consider him a “walking mid-life crisis,” and don’t take his late-in-life career change seriously. The show itself may be grounded in reality, but there will be plenty of action scenes for fans of his older work.
The Rookie will air on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. on ABC.
