What would have happened if the Imperial colonists had happened to try and settle a continent housing strange and frightening beasts that would threaten their very existence? Well, that’s the question that Gaslamp Games asks with their latest effort, Clockwork Empires. Clockwork Empires is a Lovecraftian city-building game that puts you in control of establishing, defending, and ultimately growing your new city as you conquer this untamed land.

We’re excited to partner with Gaslamp Games to support the Official Clockwork Empires Wiki, providing you with all of the information you could ever need in order to help you conquer this new land. But what is Clockwork Empires about, exactly? Well, keep reading past the break to learn more.

In Clockwork Empires, you step into the shoes of a Junior Bureaucrat. You have been sent forth by your empire to discover new lands to conquer, new fortunes to plunder, and new resources to exploit. After all, the industrial revolution taking place back home won’t feed itself. By building a thriving colony and harnessing the power of science and industry, you can shape the future of your empire – if not the world!

At it’s core, Clockwork Empires is a city-building game, through and through. You manage the buildings being constructed, and the citizens who live there. As your city grows, you will be given different goals and objectives to meet. While you may be tempted to complete every challenge that is tasked to you, beware! In addition to the beasts roaming the untamed wilds, your leadership will be faced by threats from within, such as axe murderers, cultists, and sentient two-legged fish people. They will try to destroy your colony and spread chaos, and it falls on your leadership to squelch their uprisings before they do irreparable damage.

And, of course, you are supreme ruler. You may ally yourself with the economic and military juggernaut of your Empire, or you may defect and pledge your allegiance to another empire. Or, if you are feeling especially lucky, you can take on the world and stand alone as your own independent city-state!

Clockwork Empires also features up to four-player online multiplayer, or a turn-based “round robin” style of play that lets multiple people experience the game on one machine. Players in local multiplayer games will be able to copy over their saved game information to take with them, and continue building their new colonies!

You can find Clockwork Empires right now on PC, Mac, and Linux platforms. The game is currently available through Steam, or directly through their website. If you want to learn more about the game, we invite you to take a look at the Official Wiki, and if you want to become a contributor for this or other wikis we encourage you to visit our Help Wiki.
