Heres everything you need to know about Alien: Covenant.The spaceship USCSS Covenant is en route to a planet called Origae-6 in order to start a new human colony. When a disruption causes the crew to wake up early, they also come across a signal from a nearby planet. Turns out that this planet is actually a better candidate for colonization, so they divert from their original course in order to investigate.When they arrive, they survey the planet but a mysterious microbe infects certain members of the crew, and they are impregnated by creatures that eventually burst out from their hosts bodies, killing the hosts in the process. While the crew is fending off one of these monsters, they are rescued by the planets sole inhabitant, David.David is an android who was part of a previous mission on the ship Prometheus. The Prometheus was tasked with finding the extraterrestrial race that created life on Earth, called Engineers. After discovering that mysterious microbe in an Engineer facility, the crew of the Prometheus was eventually killed off by the infection, leaving only David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw alive. They set out to find the Engineer homeworld, which happens to be the planet that the Covenant has landed on.What has David been doing since he landed on the Engineer homeworld? And what happened to Dr. Shaw? Cant spoil you on that, but suffice to say, that microbe has been hard at work mutating and evolving. Eventually, it will lead to a perfect organism, one whose structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. The Prologue: Last Supper short introduces the crew of the mission in Alien: Covenant. The Alien: Covenant release date is creeping nearer and nearer, and as it approaches, 20th Century Fox is ramping up its promotional campaign. The latest footage to drop includes two transmissions from crew members.[youtube href="www.youtube.com/watch?v=njj1R4mh5PM&feature=youtu.be"]In the first, Katherine Watersons Daniels speaks to camera in a message meant for her father, and its intercut with tense mission footage.She says, I think its on. Hi Dad, Im here on the Covenant. Were each allowed one transmission back to earth so Im excited for what were doing. Were reshaping an entire planet, building a new life for 2000 families; children, my kids some day. Yeah, I think Im exactly where Im supposed to be.The transmission glitches while she talks, cutting to the team exploring the planet together  theres water and vegetation, and theyre not wearing space suits in any of the outside shots.You hear that? says a female crew member.Something passed overhead here, says another  almost certainly Demian Bachir.There are snapshots of footage within various locations, some look like theyre inside the ship, and some look like they could be in enclosed spaces away from the Covenant. One intriguing bit of footage is shot within a dark space and reveals humanoid forms followed by some kind of alien technology or architecture.Daniels continues: Now that its actually happening, now that Im up here, earth is getting smaller and smaller. Im never going to see you again. If something does happen to me, dad I just want you to know I love you so much. Ours to discover, we shall behold wonders heretofore unimagined.Its glitchy again, and is cut with similar footage to the first clip.There is no footage of aliens in either clip, but we wont have to wait too long for all to be revealed, since the film is released on May 12 in the UK and May 19 in the US. 'Alien: Covenant' Characters Deliver Chilling Messages in New Clips

Ridley Scott recently told Entertainment Weekly that hed originally conceived and pitched an alternate ending to his 1979 masterpiece Alien. Its hard to imagine the film concluding any differently to the way that classic coda plays out  or, indeed, any scarier. But Scott described an altogether darker denouement which saw Sigourney Weavers Ripley getting her head ripped off by the xenomorph.
