The way director Matt Reeves talks, you can infer theres a lot more mileage left in the Planet of the Apes franchise. Ahead of the release of the third film in the rebooted series, War For the Planet of the Apes, the director spoke to FANDOM about his hopes for the film series. Were still not there, he says, in reference to the point at which the original 1968 Planet of the Apes film starts. But while theres no plan to remake the original Planet of the Apes, Reeves and the wider team on the franchise are working hard to make sure the rebooted series of films correlates to the existing universe. And while War is perhaps the closest in terms of built-in homages and references to the original films of all three new movies, that means theres still a lot of ground to cover. Reeves says he wants to tackle the world of apes beyond Caesars crew, the idea of which is broached in War with the introduction of Bad Ape, a chimp who had been raised in captivity. Bad Ape is really hes critical to this story but hes actually a seed thats planted that sort of says that thats a widening up of the world, explains Reeves. Its not just Caesars apes, there are other apes elsewhere  and those apes havent had the benefit of Caesars leadership. And so who knows what theyre like, and they certainly wouldnt necessarily have the level of empathy and integrity that hes tried to instil in his family of apes. So future conflicts might not just be human and ape. Reeves is interested in exploring our own natures further, which the rebooted Apes franchise allows him to do. Youre looking into an ape and youre recognising yourself. Were holding up a mirror to who we are. Thats what Id want to continue to explore, he says. Whats fun is that the original film represents an end point and once you know the ending, the story stops being about what happens at the end, it starts being about how do you get from here to there. And that is how we get to explore things about who we are and our nature because its about character, its about motivation, its about philosophy. Reeves points out that the world still looks so different from the world presented in the 1968 Planet of the Apes, in which humans are kept as cattle by the dominant apes, who wear clothes  a concept were introduced to in War through Bad Ape. The world of Rise looks nothing like that movie, but neither do the worlds of Dawn or War, says Reeves. Caesars apes dont look like those apes. So, how do we get from here to there? What transpires that turns them into the kind of captors of the humans that they are? Because Caesars apes still have much more empathy than the apes of the original, so its a journey that I think could be really cool to explore. War For the Planet of the Apes hits screens in the UK on July 11 and in the US on July 14.

Not only is Get Out one of the most financially successful films of the year, but it's also one of 2017's very best. And FANDOM has spoken at length to the film's writer-director Jordan Peele.But what of a sequel? When a movie makes that much money, talk inevitably turns to a follow-up. And as the head of the studio that has made a mint crafting sequels to the likes of Insidious, The Purge and Paranormal Activity, Jason Blum knows a thing or two about building a franchise. So we asked the man himself if we're liked to see Get Out 2 anytime soon."Never say never" came the response, which can be viewed in the above video. "It would be entirely up to Jordan, I would never make a sequel if Jordan didnt want to. I cant imagine what the sequel would be. If Jordan had an idea for the sequel Im sure wed do it, but he hasnt said, and I dont see a sequel for this movie. Weve made a lot of sequels from a lot of our movies, and I really dont see one for this. I see maybe a cousin but not a sequel."Peele has however, hinted at the fact that he'd like to look back to the past, exploring the history of the secret society at the heart of Get Out. And it sounds like Blum also sees a prequel as a possible way to go."Id love to do that if he wanted to do it" he said. "It would be interesting for sure. I stayed on as a producer. I really told the story I wanted to tell in the Bourne Identity. In fact itwas very much connected to my fathers work investigating Iran-Contra so American Madetakes me right back to that same place.But I had and I think Pauls an extraordinary director and I think the first three, the ones that Imapped out, Im super proud of my film and the two that followed. And Id be lying if I didntsay I was a little disappointed with where it went from there.
