James Gunn revealed the new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at Brazil Comic-Con, and now it's here! You may think you're ready for Baby Groot, but you're not. Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Tommy Flanagan, Laura Haddock and Kurt Russell. Kevin Feige is producing, and Louis DEsposito, Jonathan Schwartz, Victoria Alonso, Nik Korda and Stan Lee are the executive producers. The screenplay is by James Gunn. Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters May 2017.

The galaxys most lovable jerks are back for another spacey adventure. So, whats new this time around? Lets tell you all the juicy details you need to know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And yes, well get to the merchandising masterstroke that is Baby Groot.The Guardians of the Galaxy are a band of mercenaries who offer their services to those in need. The team consists of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot.When we last left our heroes, they had banded together to go forth into the galaxy and get paid to be good guys. The new film takes place a few months later and has the team not quite being able to work together just yet.The gang gets hired by Ayesha, a member of an ancient race known as the Eternals, to seek out a being known as Ego. SPOILER WARNING!!! Turns out Ego is Star-Lords big papa, the one who left Peter on Earth and imbued him with some kind of cosmic power.Dont forget about the Ravagers, the space pirate band that Yondu was commanding in the last movie. Well, Yondu gets overthrown by one of the Ravagers named Taserface (look it up! Its real!) and ends up joining forces with the Guardians as well as Nebula, Gamoras adopted sister.The team also meets up with Mantis, a clairvoyant who seems to be connected to Ego in some way and might be connected to Peter as well. Hmmm could Peter have a sister?Well, things wont stay cozy for long and itll be up to the Guardians to learn to work together as a family and save the day....Oh yeah, I almost forgot. So, Groot sacrificed himself to save the team in the last movie. But a part of him survived and sprouted anew. Now, this Baby Groot - who is just so darn cute you wanna pinch his widdle wooden cheeks until your fingers are full of splinters, yes you do! - hes not the exact same Groot we knew from before. But dont let his size fool you. Hes got something special in store.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will rock its way into theaters on May 5th. 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' TV Spot - "You're Welcome"

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is going to expand its space-hoppin crew with both new and familiar faces. Let's take a closer look at these new additions to the team.First up, Yondu.We met Yondu in the first Guardians. Remember? The guy with that crazy arrow he controls by whistling? Hes the blue-skinned leader of the Ravagers, space pirates who are pretty nice guys when you get to know them. Yondu is a scoundrel, but he does follow his own moral code.For example, he was hired to kidnap a young Peter Quill on Earth and deliver him to his father, but instead he took Peter under his wing and made him an official member of the Ravagers. Of course, he is constantly reminding Peter that the Ravagers would love to eat him alive, so Yondus not exactly the nicest guy youve ever known.How Yondu ends up as an official member of the Guardians is still a mystery -- and a bit of a surprise, since the last time he and Peter were together, Peter used some slight of hand to dupe him out an Infinity Stone.. Then again, Yondu didn't seem too upset by the swindle, so maybe he's a bit of a softie after all.Next up, Nebula.Nebula was also a major player in the first film. Heck, she was one of the big baddies!  Like Gamora, Nebula is an adopted daughter of the Mad Titan, Thanos. However, Nebula betrayed Thanos -- by becoming an ally of Ronan the Accuser.Not the biggest shocker really, since Thanos raised her to be a galaxy-class killer, often pitting her against Gamora and her other adopted siblings. Nebula's various cybernetic enhancements are the result of these trials. You think maybe thats why theres a little family tension?On the plus side, those implants help her quickly heal from near-fatal injuries, and that's helped her more than once when shes gone up against the Guardians, so they should prove just as useful once she becomes one of the "good guys.Finally, theres Mantis.Dont let those antennae fool you. Mantis is an extremely skilled fighter who also possesses empathic abilities, meaning she can physically sense the emotions of others.She was raised alone so she hasnt had a lot of practice interacting with others.. Her contact with the Guardians is her first real contact with other people. You can bet shes going to cause some awkward moments among her newfound friends.Catch Mantis, Nebula, Yondu, and all of those other a-holes in action when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 hits theaters on May 5th.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 begins exactly how you want it to. It plunges you straight into some high-octane action but tackles it in its typically irreverent way, with the entire spectacle  Star-Lord and co fighting the huge, tentacled Abilisk theyve been hired by the Sovereign people to defeat  taking a backseat to Baby Groot. Ah, yes. Baby Groot. He doesnt disappoint and is completely adorable. The Death Button sequence from the trailer isnt the only time a misunderstanding leads to hilarity and extreme cuteness. Hes as into dancing as he was in the post-credits scene of Guardians 1, and the minute the music kicks in, he cant hold the off. He gets his uber-adorable groove on. Of course, while hes lost in music, the others are torn between fighting the monster and keeping Groot safe  the entire team are surrogate parents for the young sapling. But its not all about Baby Groot, even if we might want it to be. Theres so much jammed into this sequel that its a wonder it fits into its 2 hours 20 minute run time. Narrative strands ultimately converge with a final battle that  surprisingly  sags at times. But the films incredible dialogue, the characterisation and performances and the fan service it pays alongside the smart way in which it embeds the Guardians into the wider MCU and sets up the next film more than make up for any saggy bits. It may lack the freshness and impact of its forerunner, which dazzled us all with its irreverence, but director James Gunn makes sure theres plenty else to chew on here.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we learn a lot more about the historic relationship between Michael Rookers character Yondu, the blue-skinned Ravager who kidnapped Peter Quill from Earth as a child, and the captive who becomes his charge.If you havent seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and dont want to read SPOILERS look away now.In the film, Yondu sacrifices himself to save Peter aka Star-Lord  a noble gesture in a movie that sees Peters father figure bare his soul to his surrogate son.We sat down with Michael Rooker who plays Yondu in the Guardians films. He talked to us about Yondus death and why Yondu reveals his true feelings to Peter at the same time as telling him the truth about his real father, Ego, and the big planet dudes nefarious plans.We really get to the bare bones of it in that last scene, he says, referring to Yondus death sequence. The whole act of [the] giving of ones self there are many people who have done that and, of course, why does Yondu do it or why does he tell him the truth? I think the big thing is he has to really.Rooker explains that Yondu has kept the reason why he took Peter then raised him himself a secret all these years. He finally reveals all to Peter not because hes looking for some kind of redemption but rather because hes been doing a little soul-searching, and its timely as the events of the film unfold.Rooker says, Obviously, Yondus going through something and I mean its sort of coming to a head, right, so its just one of those things  like when youre filling the cup with water, it eventually has to spill over. So thats what happened with Yondu I think.So there you go. You can watch the interview in the video above.
