On the heels of 2015s Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history and the sixth-biggest global title of all time, comes the newest chapter in one of the most popular and enduring motion picture serials of all time: The Fate of the Furious.  Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the gameand the rest of the crew has been exoneratedthe globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life.  But when a mysterious woman (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he cant seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.   From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the worlds stageand to bring home the man who made them a family.For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Ludacris Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell.  In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar winner Helen Mirren.  The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.

The Fate of the Furious proves that you can't keep a good dog down. The eighth entry in this blockbuster series promises to be bigger than anything that came before. In order to accomplish that, the series needed a director who could bring something new to the table. Drew Dietsch sat down with director F. Gary Gray to see exactly what it was he wanted to bring to this storied and immensely successful franchise."There's a little more drama than you might expect..."Gray stepped into the series at a pivotal point in the ongoing story; Dom's mysterious decision to go rogue and join with the villainous Cipher - played by Charlize Theron - adds a new bit of conflict into the lives of these characters. "I'd like to think that my experience lends itself to dramatic performances," Gray said modestly. It's true that the drama in The Fate of the Furious is more amplified than usual, so Gray was a good fit in that department.Humor, Humor, and More HumorWhat Gary really brings to this entry is his incredible sense of humor. The director of Friday, The Italian Job, and Straight Outta Compton was always willing to let the levity reign supreme on set. "I can't shy away from it. It's just how life is. When you're going through something really tough, something funny just happens and you have to laugh." It's clear that that atmosphere was welcome on set; Jason Statham visibly cracks up in the movie when Dwayne Johnson shoots him a tough guy one-liner, and it's those moments that make Gray's contribution to the series really shine through.The Fate of the Furious will speed into theaters on April 14.

The Fast and Furious franchise features cars that are just as popular as the characters, with favourites including the Toyota Supra from the first Fast and Furious flick, and the Nissan Skyline that features in 2 Fast 2 Furious.But amongst the muscle cars, pimped out drives, and souped up engines, two automobiles stand head and shoulders above the rest  Dominic Torettos 1970 Dodge Charger and Brian OConners 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse.The Dodge was built by Toretto and his father back in the day, but banished to the family garage after Doms father was killed driving it in a stock race.You cant keep a good Dodge down however, and Toretto junior ends up using the car to save his best bud Brian in The Fast and the Furious. Its pretty much destroyed at the end of that film, but Letty rebuilds it for 2009s Fast & Furious, and versions of the car appear in Fast Five, Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7.Along the way the Dodge races through the streets of Rio, becomes embroiled in a game of chicken, is hit by both an armoured car and a prison bus, gets blown up multiple times, and is launched off the top of a car park and out the back of a plane.As for the Eclipse, Brians lean, mean, speed machine is driven around the parking lot at Dodger Stadium early in the first film, though spins out of control.Its then used in a street race that pits OConner against Toretto, but overuse of the Nitrous Oxide System means that the car very nearly falls apart. And due to that nitrous oxide, the car eventually explodes after villain Johnny Tran shoots it up. But not before the Eclipse is used to evade the police and rescue Dominic.Thanks to its lime-green exterior, the Mitsubishi may be the most memorable of all the Fast and Furious cars. But if were picking favourites, the Dodge is the best, being the toughest, coolest and most dependable of all the Fast and Furious rides, and the one car that has gone the distance.And if you want to get your hands on either car, theres a 69 Charger available in Forza Motorsport 7, out now on Xbox One, as well as a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and a whole set of cars pulled direct from the Fate of the Furious movie, including the crazy doorless 1951 Chevy Fleetline Special.
