The world of Pokémon is really heating up with the nearing release of Pokémon Sun and Moon. Today saw a TON of new reveals, starting with Pokémon Sun and Moon starters’ final evolutions. Alongside that, we got to see new guardians, new opponents, and more that confirms some of the previous weeks.
The Starters Final Evolutions
After showing off the first and second forms of the three choices of starter Pokémon, today we got to see the final forms. Meet Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina!
Now that you’ve seen what all three look like in the final form a.k.a. the one you’ll be taking into league battle, what’s your pick? Personally, as a wrestling fan, I’m leaning towards Incineror. And that’s the just the start of the new Pokémon info we got today!
Previous Update Below…
Starter Evolutions
When parsing out all the new information let’s start with the new information on the Pokémon Sun and Moon starters. We already knew that the Fire-, Grass-, and Water-Types for the game will be (respectively) Litten, Rowlet, and Popplio. Now we know their first evolutions. Meet Torracat, Dartrix, and Brionne.
Seeing what each of the three grows into hopefully helps with choosing which of the Pokémon Sun and Moon starters is right for you. Though save your final judgment until you see their third forms. Those last evolutions are the ones you’ll be seeing the most in the end game action. So choose which of the starters you’ll want to take with you all the way to the championships.
The Demo is Coming Soon
The evolutions were only the beginning of the news in today’s trailer. We also got confirmation that a first Pokémon Sun and Moon demo will be hitting the 3DS eShop in a matter of weeks. And if you play the preview content, you’ll unlock an exclusive Pokémon – Ash-Greninja, inspired by the Greninja that teams up with anime lead Ash. And he comes bundled with a Mega-Evolution.
The demo appears on the 3DS eShop worldwide on October 18.
New Online Functionality
Beyond those two bombshells of information, the trailer also explained some of the new features coming to Pokémon Sun and Moon online functionality. The new Festival Plaza area represents a more relaxed social space where trainers can hang out online together and help with simple tasks. It seems like a relaxing way to play the game online outside of the usual battles. There was also word on new uses for the Pokémon stored on your PC.
Poké Pelago looks to function like a mini-town you build up over the course of the game. You make different facilities and places for your currently unused Pokémon to hang out while you’re travelling the world. For those of us who always felt a little bad for the monsters we don’t bring with us, this could relieve some of that guilt.
The updates just keep coming fast and loose as we near the release on Nov. 18. Will we see any more new monsters before then? How about some new Z-Moves? Keep your eyes peeled to Fandom as we keep you informed on all current Pokémon events.
