You might have heard of the acronym WWJD. It stands for ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ – a motto adopted by Christians as a reminder to always do the moral thing. As upstanding citizens, we like to think it’s a motto everyone would do well to keep in mind. In The Equalizer, and its sequel The Equalizer 2, Denzel Washington plays Robert McCall, a vigilante ex-special forces operative punishing often dangerous criminals for their immoral misdeeds. Usually, he gives them a choice to atone for their actions — before killing them. We wanted to know what Denzel himself would do in a series of moral dilemmas. So we asked him. Don’t worry – at no point did the quiz end with threat of death on either side.

Moral dilemmas put to Denzel included what he’d do if he found cash sticking out of an ATM, whether he’d run a red light – and whether or not he’d read his teenager’s diary if he came across it while cleaning up. Watch his responses in the video above — his answers might surprise you.

Stormy Climax

In The Equalizer 2, Washington reprises his role as Robert McCall, a mysterious figure with a past as a highly-trained intelligence operative who now channels his skills into wreaking vengeance on the bad guys who wrong those without the wherewithal to fight back. This sequel sees McCall is drawn into investigating the death of a close friend. As he gets closer to the truth, we discover more about McCall’s shrouded backstory. And as the film nears its thrilling finale, we witness McCall find a way – via a violent and both literal and figurative stormy climax – to make peace with his past.

The Equalizer 2 is out now in the US and Australia and hits UK screens on August 17. As well as Denzel Washington in the lead role, The Equalizer 2 stars returning cast members Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman. New additions to the franchise cast include Pedro Pascal and Ashton Sanders. Director Antoine Fuqua helms.
