There’s Going to Be a ‘Titanfall 2’ Mobile Game

Titanfall 2 basically got released at the wrong time last year. Sandwiched between EA’s own Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, it got lost amongst the big AAA shooters. But that hasn’t stopped it garnering a tight-knit online community and deserving a mobile game spin-off: Titanfall Assault.

The best things about Titanfall 2 was its story, parkour mechanics and robotic warfare. But the mobile game is going to be a little bit different. Instead of an FPS, Titanfall Assault will be a strategy game created with the help of Nexon and Particle City.

Specific details on the game are currently a little scarce, but the developers promise it will offer “fast and fluid real-time PvP” where you’ll need to build an army of Titans and pilots to send into battle within a “strategic objective-based PVP gameplay experience”.

We wonder whether Titanfall Assault will actually make it to launch

The game will be coming to Android and iOS, but there’s currently no word on when that’ll be.

“In Titanfall Assault, players will put their RTS skills to the test as they collect, upgrade and assemble a deck of Pilots, Titans and tactical Burn Cards, which provide powerful battlefield support,” the official description reads. “The PvP matchups play out across different maps across the Frontier War and will require opponents to create and deploy their custom squad on the battlefield in order to outmanoeuvre enemy forces and win valuable rewards on the leaderboards.”

This isn’t the first time there’s been a Titanfall mobile spin-off. Last year, Nexon, Particle City and Titanfall developer Respawn announced Titanfall Frontline, a card-based strategy game as a spin-off to the original game.

However, Frontline was cancelled just a few months after it was announced.

There's no word on a Titanfall Assault release date yet

Seeing as Nexon and Respawn signed a multi-year, multi-game partnership in 2015, we imagine that this mobile spin-off may make it to market along with a few other mobile titles based on the sci-fi shooter.
