Back in July of 2013, The Conjuring scared the pants off of audiences everywhere. It also scared about $318 million out of the wallets of moviegoers worldwide, making it one of the highest grossing supernatural horror films of all time. It also managed to earn widespread critical acclaim for its stylish, classical direction and atmosphere. Last year’s spin-off, Annabelle, despite being met with a largely negative critical reception, also managed to be a massive hit. This summer, The Conjuring returns to theaters with a highly awaited sequel. Check out the first trailer below.
The series has crossed the pond to England, where Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) will encounter the infamous Enfield Poltergeist. What happened in Enfield is legend among paranormal enthusiasts, and should provide lots of fertile ground for director James Wan to sow his magic. The Conjuring 2 marks Wan’s return to horror from the huge success (and struggle) of Furious 7.
Expect the theaters to be packed with frightened audiences on June 10 when The Conjuring 2 hits theaters.
