We first met Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War and it’s safe to say a whole lot has happened since then. But the one-two punch of the events in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame pretty much guarantees that both Peter Parker and Spider-Man will never be the same.
Peter Parker started as a guy who dressed up in a homemade costume to help out around the neighborhood when he realized he had superpowers and then, suddenly, Tony Stark showed up. Next thing he knew, Peter had a new super suit, a new secret, and a new mission as part of the Avengers (even if it was only for a day). But what he also gained was a relationship with Tony Stark — part mentor, part father figure, part mad scientist, Tony Stark became someone Peter Parker grew to not only like but love.
When Thanos snapped his fingers, Peter Parker was one of the 50% of the population to turn into dust, begging Tony Stark to help him even as he disintegrated. It was the loss of Peter that motivated Tony to work on a solution to undo The Snap and, in the end, Tony gave his life to save everyone as Peter tearfully said goodbye.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Peter Parker has been brought back to life and, while he’s lost Tony Stark, he’s reunited with his friends back home. He’s a little older, a lot wiser, and grieving, but he’s back where he belongs.
Of course, no matter how much tragedy we face, life goes on and that’s exactly what Spider-Man: Far From Home is all about. The big question is, how will Avengers: Endgame impact the events in Spider-Man: Far From Home?

It’s not just Peter Parker. The entire world is mourning Iron Man and honoring him as a hero who gave his life to save them. Peter’s not just grieving the lost of a hero but a friend and a man who was so much more. This is a Peter Parker who’s seen and dealt with a lot more than other kids his age as he tries to adjust to his former life and routine.
Peter’s friends were Snapped
A lot can happen in five years. Especially in a world where 50% of the population disappeared one day and returned just as suddenly to a planet that has moved on without them. Far From Home hints that we’ll see the impact of those life-changing events and likely learn more about what happened in the time after The Snap and before The Return.
Nick Fury is getting personal with Spidey
Nick Fury may not be the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. any more, but when has that ever stopped Fury from getting a job done? After the events of Endgame, most of the original Avengers are gone in one form or another and, as we learn in the trailer, both Thor and Captain Marvel are dealing with other things already, so Peter’s being pulled off the bench and out in the field once again. Poor Peter thought he’d get to go on a vacation and get a little down time, but when the world needs saving, you step up.
Did The Snap open our dimension to the multiverse?
It looks like the events of Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse were a lot more relevant to the MCU than we may have thought. Thanos’ Snap did a lot more than just decimate 50% of, well, every living thing, it also opened a rift between dimensions and things are coming through. Most notably, Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio. Mysterio informs us that he’s not from this dimension or this Earth, which he calls Earth-616 (a term that many Marvel fans will find themselves familiar with), but he’s from Earth-833. Of course, who he is and what he’s up to remain a mystery… for now.
Happy Hogan has a new mission and Peter gets new glasses.
With the death of Tony Stark, Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan finds himself in a position to look after and help Peter. If you note the glasses Peter dons in the trailer, it looks like Tony’s sending help or a message (they look a lot like Tony’s glasses, right?) and Happy informs Peter’s friends that he’s in Europe helping Peter. Just what else Happy’s new role entails reminds to be seen, but we can’t help wondering if Aunt May might be involved.
One thing’s for sure, there’s certainly more going on in that trailer, but that’s a story for another day.
