The release of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is much sooner than you think, but it’s understandable you’d forget. Capcom has been very secretive with the series’ return to horror, dropping different clues and new terrifying images here and there. And at Tokyo Game Show 2016, there were some new nightmare-inducing moments with today’s Resident Evil VII new trailer. Just don’t watch this NSFW footage while eating.
The Resident Evil VII new trailer takes us back to the swampy, dilapidated house in Louisiana seen in previous trailers. And we get an even more intimate look at The Bakers, the clan seemingly at the center of all the awfulness in Resident Evil VII. At least now we know that this terrifying family has some bizarre eating habits. I certainly wouldn’t want to visit their dinner table.
If you’ve been able to keep your food in your stomach, there’s more good news on the game today. Remember the Resident Evil VII demo that went live during E3 in June? Well, it’s gotten an update on Sep. 15. What’s new in the Beginning Hour demo? Well, we don’t want to spoil it, but the Twilight Version of the demo adds new events, scares, and enemies to the first-person horror game. And if you’re playing on PS4, the demo is now open to everyone, not just PlayStation Plus users. So whether you played the demo already or are totally new to it, download ASAP.
New Screens Are Here Too
By the way, some creepy new screenshots were released alongside the Resident Evil VII new trailer, so why not give these dim screens a look.
This appears to be a mobile home, perhaps near the house from the demo?
I don’t want to go back to this attic any time soon.
Compared to the rest of the house, this unmade bed seems relatively peaceful.
Hmm, nothing creepy at all about this library, right? Nothing bad ever happens in a Resident Evil library.
This looks like a road in Louisiana, perhaps one of the characters on their way to The Bakers’ house?
Oh man, that’s really going to sting. Is this the game’s healing mechanic at work.
The Dudley Daily looks to include some clues, including rumors of ghosts and more than 20 missing with “more on the way!”
That’s a pretty big backpack, hopefully enough to store all the items you’ll find in Resident Evil VII.
New items like this screwdriver. Is this a weapon or a key item? (Or both?)
It wouldn’t be a Resident Evil if you weren’ carefully opening doors.
More of the VHS tapes found in the demo. What other secrets could they contain?
This screenshot looks to be taken moments before your death.
Ugh, I’m too scared to ever go back to this attic.
Wow, this is one of the very few images so far that seems to show the player character having won a fight. Or is that guy just playing dead?
And it looks like you’ll have guns in your arsenal as well.
Resident Evil VII is shaping up to be the scariest entry in the series in some time. But how does it connect to the previous Resident Evil games? How much action and gunplay will there be? Certainly, some action was hinted at in the TGS trailer. Hopefully, we’ll learn more as the Jan. 24. 2017 release approaches.
