The Office star Rainn Wilson is joining the cast of Star Trek: Discovery and there are so many good Dwight Schrute Star Trek jokes being made right now we can hardly stand it.
Wilson will play the part of Harry Mudd, a character familiar to longtime Trek fans. Mudd is a conman character from the original series who had multiple absurd run-ins with the Enterprise crew — he was even in an episode of the Star Trek animated series.

There’s no official word yet on how many episodes Wilson will appear in, but we hope he’s in as many as possible and so does everyone making the most of Wilson’s casting on Twitter…
Dwight Schrute is gonna play Harry Mudd on the new Star Trek show and I'm losing my mind at how awesome this is.

Wilson is just the latest addition to the Star Trek: Discovery cast that includes Walking Dead actress Sonequa Martin-Green in the lead role of a lieutenant commander. James Frain is Spock’s father Sarek, Anthony Rapp will play a “space fungus expert,” Michelle Yeoh is the captain of the Starship Shenzhou, and Jason Isaacs is captain of the Discovery.
We’ll get our first look at Star Trek: Dwightscovery Discovery when it beams up to CBS All Access later this year.
