Be afraid, be very afraid. From the people who brought you The Conjuring, Lights Out has a trailer that has just been released and it’s bound to make you sleep with the lights on for the foreseeable future. David F. Sandberg directs his first major film using original source material from his 2013 short film with the same name.
The premise of the film revolves around a family that is haunted by some entity that can only be seen in the dark. When you wake up in the night and you see something like a shadow, it’s probably a door or a pile of clothes. In Lights Out, that shadow might be something evil.
It was released at the LA Film Festival and has gotten critical praise, including all positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with one critic saying is “the most inventive horror film of the year”.
Prepare yourself for this fairly frightening trailer:
Lights Out stars Teresa Palmer from Warm Bodies, relative newcomer Gabriel Bateman (not related to Jason Bateman), and Maria Bello who was nominated for Golden Globes for her work in A History of Violence and The Cooler.
Lights Out hits theater July 22nd.
