iZombie Season 4 is set to premiere this month and we are dying to know if ‘New Seattle’ will be able to contain all of the undead citizens from the Season 3 finale. If you recall, in “Waiting for Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2,” one of Fillmore-Graves’ key employees turned the city into zombies via contaminated vaccines. While not everyone was turned, the city had to be quarantined to keep the zombie infection from spreading.
With the city on lockdown and more people becoming zombies, is iZombie heading to the inevitable reality of The Walking Dead? We know Ravi developed a cure, but did it work? If it didn’t, will Seattle become The CW’s version of The Walking Dead‘s Atlanta? Let’s discuss some of the similarities between the shows and theorize if iZombie is getting close to The Walking Dead.
Will Seattle Become Ground Zero?
We know Atlanta is a key city on The Walking Dead. It’s where Rick Grimes wakes up in the pilot and it’s where a bulk of the show takes place. Atlanta is also home to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). While The Walking Dead has yet to explain what caused the virus outbreak, it’s clear that Atlanta had a role to play, either in developing a cure or something to stop the spread of the virus.
On iZombie, Ravi has become his own CDC. He has been investigating a cure since he met Liv back in Season 1. At the end of the Season 3 finale, he felt strongly that he had found a cure, enough to let Liv scratch him. When S4 kicks off, we should know pretty quickly if the cure worked. If it doesn’t, does that mean Seattle will become ground zero for a worldwide breakout of the zombie apocalypse?
Did The Walking Dead Have Walls?
We know that when Season 4 begins, Washington State will have built a giant wall around the city of Seattle. At the moment, this will keep the zombies in — but what if the walls don’t hold? The zombies agreed to stay inside Seattle if the nation supplied them with dead brains, but how long will that treaty last?
There was a joke made in one of the trailers that Seattle — or “New Seattle” as Blaine is calling it — could be nuked at any time to stop the outbreak. If iZombie took place in The Walking Dead timeline and the zombies could be nuked before infecting the world, would Rick and co. make that call? Sure the shows are set in different worlds, but watching the seeds of the zombie apocalypse grow on iZombie and knowing that it could lead to global terror like on The Walking Dead makes the threat way more real, doesn’t it?
