Black Panther will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to kick off 2018. We’ve already seen T’Challa in action during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Now, we’ll get to check out how the king of Wakanda fares when he flies solo. We’ve got our first look at the film thanks to the teaser poster. Peep this, true believers!
Admittedly, this is something of a weak poster. There seems to be some iffy Photoshop going on with Chadwick Boseman’s head. Plus, T’Challa’s costume doesn’t look nearly as awesome as it did in Captain America: Civil War. But, this is just a teaser poster meant to evoke a feeling. And that feeling is very Game of Thrones. When I spoke to Boseman at last year’s Comic-Con, it definitely sounded like Black Panther was going to involve some royal intrigue.
We’ll be getting the first teaser trailer later tonight. That will give us a clearer picture of what to expect. Director Ryan Coogler (Creed) is one of the most exciting new directors in recent years. It’s enticing to think what he might bring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not to mention the amazing cast that’s been assembled. As well as Boseman, you’ve got Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, and Sterling K. Brown! That is an abundance of talent.
Come back later tonight and we’ll have the Black Panther teaser ready for your consumption. In the meantime, start counting down the days until Black Panther hits theaters on February 16. The wait is going to be worth it.
