To promote the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Warner Bros. partnered with Google to create an interactive Google Maps experience. Users can look up four “secret” locations for Fantastic Beasts on Google Maps; all New York City boroughs that are featured in the upcoming movie.
A search for the residence of Porpentina and Queenie Goldstein, for instance, will take you to 21 W 26th Street near Madison Square Park. Google Maps will even allow you to explore each location in “street-view” for a 360-degree look. Here are some of the gems we found in our digital tour to 1926 New York:
MACUSA – 223 Broadway, New York, NY
Located within the Woolworth Building in Lower Manhattan, the Magical Congress of the United States of America (shortened MACUSA) is the magical body in charge of governing the wizarding population of the United States of America. It is led by the President of the Magical Congress of the United States of America.
Goldstein Residence – 21 W 26th St, New York, NY
Tina and Queenie Goldstein are American witches and sisters who are featured in Fantastic Beasts. Both sisters attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and live in this modest brownstone.
The Blind Pig – 124 Macdougal St, New York, NY
The Blind Pig is a wizarding speakeasy and jazz club that operated during the 1920s in New York — you’ll remember the scene from the trailer in which Tina and Queenie are standing out front. It is owned by a goblin gangster named Gnarlack, played by Ron Perlman.
Steen National Bank – 300 W 14th St, New York, NY
The Steen National Bank is the location where Newt Scamander first meets No-Maj Jacob Kowalski, and where we see the fanatical group the New Salemers, led by Mary Lou Barebone.
