A little while ago, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi joked with Entertainment Tonight that he’d like to make a rom-com about Vision and Scarlet Witch. So when FANDOM spoke to the actors who play those characters — Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen — we asked about the imaginary project. With their answers viewable in the above video.
Then things got a little more serious, as we quizzed the pair about their characters’ burgeoning relationship, and its status when Avengers: Infinity War begins.
“At the end of Civil War I am a fugitive and an outlaw” explains Olsen. “And Vision and I meet in secret in different cities. We’re on opposite teams so that’s why we have to meet in secret. And now we have the beginning of a relationship. Of falling in love.”
The pair sound proud of what’s happening between the characters.
Olsen: “I think the sweetest thing about it is we’re creating a love story between a witch and someone who is AI, who really wants to…”
Bettany: “…know what it means to be human.”
Olsen: “So I think it’s a very human story that we get to share and tell. A lot of these movies don’t get to have that time. And it is one of the most human things that has been written about since stories were told. So I think it’s lovely that we get to tell it.”
Finally, when asked whether Vision would like to take the relationship to the next level and start a family, Bettany said “Yes I think that would make sense with the track that he is on to learn to be more human. That would be something.”
Avengers: Infinity War hits screens next week, while you can check out the below video to find out what directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo said when FANDOM suggested an Avenger might die in their new film.
