Donald Glover Is Making a ‘Deadpool’ Animated Series and Those Words Sound Amazing Together

Now that you’ve gathered yourself, you’ll want to know: When will the Deadpool animated series come out? We don’t know exactly, but the 10-episode first season of the series will premiere on FXX sometime in 2018, according to Variety.

The Glover brothers will be the showrunners in collaboration with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Donald Glover doing a Deadpool animated series is the very definition of “lit.”

“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth,” Loeb told Variety. We couldn’t agree more. It’s an insanely fun concept for an animated series. And one that could potentially become a massive hit for FXX.

FX Networks is no stranger to adult-targeted animated series. Archer, which premiered on the network in 2009, has become a genre staple. Deadpool, a comic book franchise that’s notorious for raunchy humor, is sure to fit right in.

The untitled Deadpool series will be the second Marvel collaboration with FX Networks. Their foot in the door came earlier this year with the X-Men adjacent series Legion, widely considered the best comic book series currently on TV.

“We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation,” Loeb said. He’s not the only one thrilled.
