Negasonic Teenage Warhead. With a name like that, you’ve gotta have questions, like, what are her powers, where did she come from, and why did she pick that name?
Negasonic was introduced in the first Deadpool movie and will be back for Deadpool 2. In addition to calling out her best moments in Deadpool 2 with Wade Wilson and his team of X-Force misfits, let’s jump into some of her comic book backstory and best moments from the first film.
Negasonic in the Comics
In the comics, Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s real name is Ellie Phimister. She gave herself the Negasonic name in New X-Men Vol. 1 #115. In that specific comic issue, Ellie was learning to use her telepathic and precognitive powers under the training of Emma Frost. She was killed, tragically, along with over 16 million other mutants.
Ellie was resurrected in X-Force Vol. 3 Issue #22 and given expanded powers in Deadpool & the Mercs for Money Vol. 2 Issue #4. In Issue #5, Ellie joined Deadpool’s Mercs and decided to stay by his side, since he saved her life.
During this comic book run Ellie also met a version of herself from the future. Her future self gave her advice about letting the timeline play out naturally and to not get involved in the Inhuman war. She was also assigned to protect Deadpool’s daughter, Eleanor.
Negasonic in Deadpool
In the first Deadpool movie, Negasonic palled around with Colossus. When Deadpool’s murder spree on the bridge caught Colossus’ attention, he grabbed Negasonic from Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and went to find him. Colossus then attempted to recruit Deadpool into the X-Men, to no avail.
Laster in the film, Deadpool asked Colossus and Negasonic for help in defeating Ajax and rescuing his fiancee, Vanessa. Negasonic displayed her remarkable powers by turning herself into a giant fireball, thus burning away her clothes and revealing her yellow and black X-Men suit underneath.
She helped propel Wade in his fight with Ajax and helped in Ajax’ eventual defeat.
Negasonic in Deadpool 2
In Deadpool 2, Wade will be assembling an all-star team to protect kid Russell from Cable. In addition to new comers Shatterstar, Bedlam, Domino, Surge, Peter, and Zeitgeist, Colossus and Negasonic will be back!
In the film, Deadpool goes to the X-Men mansion to finally become a member of the X-Men. He makes a funny joke about no one ever being around except Colossus and NTW, which is true, however NTW does introduce Wade to her new girlfriend, Yukio.
Yukio, Negasonic, and Colossus rejoin Wade at the end of the film to defeat Juggernaut and save the Essex School from Firstfist. Negasonic lights up Firefist and she and Yukio make an amazingly cute couple. FANDOM caught up with Negasonic actress Brianna Hildebrand this week, check out our interview with her below.
