To celebrate, here are eight fictional characters who embody the spirit of National Donut Day, every day.
Helena – Orphan Black
Kicking off the list is our favorite foodie clone, Helena. Her love for powdered cake donuts is so real, so pure; it can be described in just three words. She’s a simple clone with simple needs.
Aoi Miyamori – Shirobako
Aoi Miyamori is a bubbly production assistant who loves two things: beer and DonKin Donuts. She and her friends make a pact in high school to stay BFFs forever and form a ring of donuts while cherry blossoms (of course) rain down from the ceiling.
Mindy Lahiri – The Mindy Project
Donuts can be the cure to many things: heartache, hunger, boredom, etc. Nobody knows this more than Dr. Mindy Lahiri, who longs for the healing properties of a donut after a really good cry.
Agent Dale Cooper – Twin Peaks
Special Agent Dale Cooper does not shy away from stereotypes. He calls the spread above “a policeman’s dream,” though a veritable feast of donuts stacked in pairs could be a dream come true for anyone.
Patrick Star – Spongebob Squarepants
Let’s be real. At some point today, we will be Patrick Star shame-eating a jelly donut.
Homer Simpson – The Simpsons
This list would not be complete if we didn’t include Homer Jay Simpson. If you’ve ever wanted to make those infamous Kwik-E-Mart donuts, check out this recipe for pink sprinkled donuts on the Donut Wiki.
The Entire Cast – Orange is the New Black
The look of pure bliss as Chapman bites into a chocolate donut says it all.
Liz Lemon – 30 Rock
Ah, yes. The queen of emotional eating asks the hard-hitting questions when it comes to donuts. Mainly: 1. What time do they get thrown out? And, 2. Have you ever microwaved one?
