Better Call Saul’s duplicitous drug dealer is joining the Marvel Universe next summer when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters.
Actor Michael Mando, who plays both sides against the middle as Nacho on the AMC series, has joined the web slinger’s cast alongside Tom Holland (Wolf Hall), Marisa Tomei (Empire) and Michael Keaton (Batman, Beetlejuice).
Actors Hannibal Buress (Broad City), Logan Marshall-Green (The O.C., Prometheus), Donald Glover (Community), Abraham Attah (Beasts of No Nation), Zendaya and Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel) are also set to appear in the latest Spidey reboot.
The plot of the movie and Mando’s role in it remain on the down-low for now. We’ve already seen Holland as Peter Parker and Tomei as Aunt May in Captain America: Civil War. We’re told Keaton will be the “big bad” in the film.
Homecoming will start filming this summer and continues the unprecedented partnership between Sony, who currently owns the movie rights to the Spider-Man character, and Marvel who has a winning track record bringing the company’s comic book heroes to the big screen.
Jon Watts, best known for the darkly comedic thriller Cop Car and his work with The Onion satire site, is directing. The Homecoming script also looks to have a comic bent with Vacation (2015) and Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein credited.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release on July 7, 2017.
