Imagine a world where the candle of civilization has been snuffed, and humanity has been thrust back into the dark ages. Mother Nature is encroaching, taking back the world from the grasp of man, and now the human race is at once predator and prey. This is the world of The Long Dark, a survival game that thrusts you into the frigid depths of the Canadian wilderness as winter approaches. It is also a world you can experience on Steam today for $19.99.
In The Long Dark, you are thrust into the frozen expanse of the Canadian forests and left to your own devices in a quest to survive until the next sunrise. Along the way you will come across other survivors, and each time you will be asked to make the decision between offering an olive branch and forging an alliance, or striking at the weak and taking their supplies for yourself. Those choices can have consequences, as you never know who is ready to defend themselves.
Each episode of The Long Dark will expand on the explorable world, and introduce dozens of new characters and scenarios for you to experience. As you progress, you’ll find yourself needing to stave off starvation, dehydration, disease, and of course, other survivors. By finding supply caches, developing survival skills like building shelter and starting fire, and learning to defend yourself, you’ll better your chances to keep yourself alive in this lawless wasteland.
The Long Dark is now available on PC for $19.99, and you can purchase it here through Steam.
