Each year since 2004, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has been recognizing the raw talent and creativity that are the most vital driving forces behind video games today. The works of art put out by studios year after year are testaments to the importance of games as an artistic medium, and Into the Pixel (ITP) strives to put a spotlight on the best of the best with its yearly gallery.
Today marks the announcement of the official selections for the 2016 ITP Collection! The winning pieces span a variety of genres and are selected by an esteemed panel of jurists, including:

“Into the Pixel’s 2016 collection highlights not only the range of visual worlds created by video game artists, but also the impressive creativity used by those artists to weave storytelling and atmosphere into the smallest details of those worlds,” said Glenn R. Phillips, curator and head of modern & contemporary collections, Getty Research Institute. “I am continually impressed by the technical skill and ingenuity of artists working across every genre of gaming, from studios big and small.”
